Apple plans to put more ads on your iPhone, reporting claims

A new report says Apple is planning to put ads in more iPhone pre-installed apps.

While the tech giant already includes ads in its News, App Store, and Stocks apps, Bloomberg Mark Gorman mentioned On Sunday, it recently tested the ads internally in Apple Maps and can integrate them into other programs like Podcasts and Books as well.

With Maps, Apple could potentially allow businesses like restaurants to pay for their service to appear higher in search results, suggested Gurman, an Apple watcher who has correctly described it many times in the past. Ads can also appear in other parts of the app outside of search results, giving businesses more flexibility about how and where ad slots appear.

As with Apple ads that appear in the News, App Store, and Stocks apps, these placements will be clearly marked so users know exactly what they’re looking for.

Todd Terrace, Apple’s vice president of advertising platforms, reportedly wants to push the tech company’s roughly $4 billion annual ad revenue into double digits, with ads in more Apple apps as one way to help it reach that goal.

In another effort to increase app-related advertising revenue, Apple recently revealed that it plans to display more ads in the App Store, with new openings coming to the Today section of the app and also to individual app pages.

Commenting on its decision to include more ads in the App Store, the company said that placements provide “opportunities for developers of all sizes to grow their business,” adding: “Like our other ad offerings, these new ad placements are built on the same basis – they will only contain content from Pages. App Store products certified for apps, and will adhere to the same strict privacy standards, which Apple reinforced with the release of iOS 14.5 last year.

Ads for a wider range of businesses and services now appear geared for more Apple’s own apps in a move the company hopes to boost its bottom line, though whether its customers will be curious about more scrolling through more ads to find the content they want is looking for leftovers to see .
