Star Fox recently obtained several new levels, many ships, a couple more weapons, and even multiplayer thanks to a team of modders who were headed up by a certain KandoWontu group. This comes after a massive leak in August, 2020 that saw the source code for this highly developed classic video game go public along with some other Nintendo titles.
The in question piece, Star Fox Exploration Showcase, could be going out every now and then, from October 2022. The original game was released on the 21st of February, 1993 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.

This is when the Super FX Chip patented 3D gaming into the SNES, but the actual magic erupts.
The news came from a report from Time Extension with KandoWontu. The modder apparently grew up with Star Fox, meaning that there’s plenty of motivation to dig through the leak.
“My memory is blown away by 3D graphics on the SNES and I don’t think I have any buck at the time,” says KandoWontu before adding that again, playing the original game could be painfully slow at times, but that was the magic of the game! Since power restored and powered, it’s been a fun game.
The plan for the Star Fox Exploration Showcase was originally modest and aimed to enable the all-range mode with the Star Fox 2 feature, along with some camera controls created by a second-generation player. Clearly the project got to expand.
“After that, I thought that we’d make the ships changeable? And the weapons? And before you know it, I added new features and hidden codes, as KandoWontu pointed out. Eventually, I had the basic menus for toggles. I added a new map with the original intact and still playable. The new map has three new courses, a secret level, new backgrounds, enemies, bosses, music, and much more!
The latest iteration of Star Fox Exploration Showcase includes a pre-game mod menu, a game pause menu, two player modes, god mode, endurance run, and full camera control, along with new ships, weapons, views and course. This mod has even a new-generation mode.
KandoWontu wanted to highlight the contribution of his team, a group of modders composed of SegaRetro92, PhonyMike, Livvy94, MrL314, Euclidium, SunlitSpace542, ChuckBorrisNorris, and a composer called Random Stuff.
Star Fox Exploration Showcase was originally scheduled for release this month, but KandoWontu announced a few short delays, and the release could be back two months. This mod can be found in the popular website ROMHacking.
