And they are close to former Arsenal target Al-Awar, whose contract with Lyon expires next summer.

Over the weekend, Forrest acquired Atalanta midfielder Remo Froller, versatile free agent Shekho Kouyate from Crystal Palace and Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis for £20m.

And it was Taiwo Awoniyi’s summer purchase that defeated West Ham 1-0 on Sunday as Steve Cooper’s men celebrated their first match at the City Ground for 23 years in style.

Aouni ended the first game after a shot from former West Ham loanee Jesse Lingard was deflected in his path by visiting full-back Ben Johnson.

But despite those early points of the season, Cooper insists his rebuilding is far from over.

Switzerland’s Ice Su, 25, will be signing another statement.

Understandably, Eintracht’s ruling European League kings are considering a bid for Forrest for one of their key men.

Meanwhile, Lyon finally looks ready to contemplate losing the French player El Aouar.

The playmaker, 25, has been linked with Premier League clubs such as Leicester and believes the move to Real Betis has only worked out in recent days.

Forrest will travel to Everton on Saturday with the goal of condemning Frank Lampard’s men to three defeats in their first three matches.
