It is said that Hakim Ziyech’s return to Ajax is on the verge of collapse.
This is with the Dutch side refusing to meet the price requested by Chelsea.
Ziyech, 29, is not in Thomas Tuchel’s plans for this season.
He is desperate to secure the transfer window before next week’s deadline.
Italian champion AC Milan led the race earlier this summer.
Fierce rivals Chelsea, Tottenham, have also been linked.
But the former Ajax club emerged as one of the frontrunners after star winger Anthony was targeted by Manchester United.
Dutch leaders have reportedly made Ziyech their first choice in the event of the Brazilian’s departure.
Talks opened with Chelsea this week about a stunning return for the Moroccan.
However, the Mail Allegations of negotiations have stalled because of the price of Ziyech.

It is believed that Ajax only wants to pay around £15m to £20m.
But Chelsea want to get back the £33m they paid to sign Ziyech from Amsterdam in 2020,
Ajax has no intention of handing over the full amount again.
It is now believed that they are looking elsewhere for Anthony’s replacement.
This means that Ziyech is now in danger of stagnating at Stamford Bridge with other exiles who have yet to receive the offers.
The likes of Marcos Alonso, Michy Batshuayi and Ross Barkley, they are all unpopular.
However, the likelihood of them staying increases, leaving Chelsea to pay their salaries until at least January.
